Due to demand, the deadline for entrants to submit their application for the Big Bethanie Bake Off – WA’s biggest bake off competition – has been extended to Friday, 17th October.
Bethanie CEO Chris How tells, “We have had a huge amount of interest from all of Western Australia with young children and grandparents teaming up to submit their favourite, nostalgic dish. Due to the school holidays, we have been asked to extend the deadline for entries, which we are happy to do”.
The Big Bethanie Bake Off aims to close the intergenerational gap between our seniors and youngsters, Bethanie is putting on a baking competition whereby school students and Bethanie grandparents submit their secret family recipe to enter a statewide competition, judged by none other than one of Australia’s top chefs, Maggie Beer.
School-aged children are asked to research their grandparents’ background and discover their favourite recipe. The children will then need to reproduce the dish – with the aid of a grandparent – and submit their application online for a chance to win some amazing prizes.
How continues, “Already, we have had some fantastic culturally inspired culinary entries that have been shared through the generations, exactly what our aim was when we first came up with the Big Bethanie Bake Off concept”.
Judges will be looking at each submission for creativity, nutritional value, and complexity of the recipe, along with the story behind their secret family recipe.
Judges will then choose four Bethanie grandparents will compete against four students at the Have a Go Day, which will be held in Burswood, on 12th November 2014 for a Grand Finale live bake off!
