Last chance bookings still available for Taste Great Southern events

Locals and visitors are experiencing the highest number of events and activities in IGA’s Taste Great Southern 10 year history; and while many have sold out, there is still a chance to experience the best the region has to offer, starting this Labor Day long weekend.

Enjoy a Yilgarina Farm Feast lunch adventure, prepared by celebrated local Chef Iain Macinnes with live entertainment this Sunday 2 March, or book to Taste the Southern Seas at Estate 807, with a four course degustation menu on Saturday 15 March.

Looking for an event somewhere in between? On Saturday 8 March, Castelli Estate will be hosting this year’s international special guests, Chef Joe Gray, a graduate of the Jamie Oliver Fifteen program and Danny McCubbin from the Jamie Oliver Foundation; who will forage and work alongside local producers to deliver a Pop Up Supper Club, with all profits going to the Jamie Oliver Foundation’s Outreach programme, which holds events in the community to get people excited about food, and teach them new skills.

Pop Up Supper Club organiser, Danny McCubbin commented “…most of the produce is being donated for the Supper Club, and I have been getting very good feedback and support from the producers… it’s going to be a fantastic event and Joe and I are so excited about running it.”

The 2014 IGA Taste Great Southern program showcases over 55 independent events taking place from February 22 through to March 30. A fantastic array of some of the country’s best known and loved cooking personalities will pepper festival events and activities, including the legendary Stephanie Alexander and Anna Gare.
