With less than two months to go, locals and visitors alike are set to feast on a range of events and mingle with WA chefs while enjoying seasonal produce, fine wine and performing arts from PIAF’s Great Southern Festival when this year’s 11th IGA Taste Great Southern Festival gets underway on Thursday 19 February.
This week’s official programme release highlights signature events throughout the region, with the Sustainable Seafood Fiesta at Due South in Albany, the Rockcliffe Night Market in Denmark with Anna Gare and Russell Blaikie, while Katanning will host Around the World in 80 Barbies. You could head to Mt Barker for the Taste of Plantagenet Fair or to the Porongurup Wine Festival to see this year’s special guest Adam Liaw crown the ‘One Wok Wonder’ champion.
Some of the country’s best known and loved cooking personalities will appear throughout the month long festivities, including Melbourne based indigenous Chef Mark Olive and WA Food Ambassador Don Hancey.
A total of 61 independent events will be staged from February 19 through to March 29 and offer an incredible diversity of food and wine experiences with appeal for the whole family.
