The World’s Greatest Restaurant Festival Makes Debut in Perth

Perth has been chosen to join the global circuit and play host to the highly acclaimed Taste Festival from 2nd to 4th May 2014 at Langley Park.

Taste of Perth will bring together the latest, greatest and hottest of Perth’s restaurant scene all in one central location.

The inaugural three day event represents the first food festival of its kind to hit Perth’s shores, celebrating Perth’s evolving culinary scene. Much more than a food sampling event, Taste of Perth is a new and exciting food experience that features bespoke curated menus and exciting pop up restaurants from the city’s most acclaimed chefs.

Restaurants on the line up include: Nobu, Greenhouse, Silks, Print Hall, Lalla Rookh, Bistro Guillaume and el Público. In addition, there will be an array of master classes, live cooking demonstrations, interactive cooking classes, expert wine tastings and live entertainment.

A worldwide sensation, Taste Festivals are held in 18 cities around the world all well known for their premium food and wine offerings including; London, Cape Town, Milan, Dubai and Toronto and the newest addition is Perth.

According to Taste of Perth’s Event Director, Simon Wilson, “Taste of Perth is an event not to be missed, particularly for foodies, restaurant-lovers, chef‐enthusiasts and those looking for a great day out with friends and family.”

“The festival will represent foodie heaven: stunning food prepared by the city’s greatest restaurants, Perth’s best chefs, superb drinks, artisanal shopping and live entertainment, all set in the stunning outdoor surroundings of the Swan River with the city skyline as a backdrop,” concluded Mr Wilson.

Taste of Perth will operate like a restaurant with a lunch and dinner service. Each restaurant will showcase their culinary skills and a selection of their signature dishes.

A Taste session lasts for 4‐5 hours (session dependent) to give visitors time to pick their restaurant dishes, browse and shop from the artisan stalls and enjoy some of the many attractions.

Taste of Perth’s key attractions will be as follows:

Taste Kitchen presented by Foxtel’s LifeStyle FOOD
Join River Cottage Australia’s Paul West, as seen on Foxtel’s The LifeStyle Channel, along with Perth’s top chefs as they share the secrets of their favourite dishes; offering tips and advice to those who are serious about food.  Watch the professionals cook up a storm with a series of pan rattling demonstrations that are sure to entertain. Demonstrations are free to attend.

Brookfield Place Table Talks
Take a seat at the Brookfield Place Table Talks and join chefs, producers, cocktail gastronomists and sommeliers in a series of innovative culinary discussions and ‘how to’ sessions. Led by a panel of experts from some of Perth’s leading venues, including the Print Hall, The Trustee, The Heritage, Choo Choo’s, Sushia, Bobeche and Bar Lafayette – the Brookfield Place Table Talks will teach you prized skills and expert knowledge from some the industry’s best.

Beer Hall
Sample a selection of local and imported beers in the ‘Beer Hall’.  There will be a series of free master classes held during each session, with free tastings of up to six beers and ciders. Meet the brewers and producers themselves in a guided class on how to taste beer & cider, learn about the brewing process and the ingredients found in beer, including malted barley, hops and yeast.

Sensology Presents ‘The Art of Cocktail Making’
Expert mixologists will take guests through a simple, step by step guide to making and serving some of the world’s most iconic cocktails, demystifying the art of cocktail making and turning visitors into the ultimate cocktail party host. Best of all, guests get to drink their very own cocktail masterpiece at the end of the class!

Lurpak®  Cookery School
Weave your Magic in a series of 30 minute cooking classes focused on simple, quality ingredients. Using Lurpak’s quality Danish butter, guests will learn how to whip up Minute Steak with Cafe de Paris Butter, Ravioli with Salmon in a Nut-Brown Butter Sauce, and the perfect Salted Caramel.

Rekorderlig Cider Bar
The custom built ‘Beautifully Swedish Rekorderlig Star’ will be a stand out attraction at the festival. It will showcase their Swedish winter favourites; Orange-Ginger Cider and Winter Cider, along with their entire range of delightful flavours.  Guests can sit back, relax and soak up the atmosphere while sipping on warm cider and listening to some great music.

All part of the fun of the festival; Crowns are the official currency used at Taste to purchase dishes and drinks from the restaurants and goodies from exhibiting producers. The restaurants only accept Crowns as payment while a limited number of producers accept cash.

1 Crown = $1. Tasting size signature dishes from the restaurants are priced from 8-12 Crowns, with drinks from 6 Crowns. Crowns can be purchased onsite at the event from Crown Banks and Crown Sellers. To avoid queuing on the day, you can also buy Crowns in advance in cards of 30 and 50 Crowns or with Silver Crown, Gold Crown and VIP tickets.
