The Truffle Kerfuffle
With such a resounding response to last years Truffle Kerfuffle the TK has been extended to be a weekend culinary and sensory journey in the Manjimup region. They didn’t think it was fair to limit such an amazing festival to one day, and so they are now holding the Truffle Kerfuffle over two and a half massive days (27th – 29th June 2014), jam packed with the ultimate in food and wine taste sensations and local creations. And yes, the jam is local.
The TK offers a range of activities, from a bustling farmers market, to extravagant 5 course Hunt and Harvest Gala Lunches and Dinners, prepared by some of the country’s top chefs, expertly matched with local wines. The festival is a hive of activity, with truffle hunters rummaging through the oaks in search of the prized truffle, master classes showcasing the local produce masterfully created by well renowned chefs, food discussion seminars and wine tastings; with foodies and farmers alike sharing in the amazing atmosphere.
The Friday night “Hunt and Harvest Dinner” is sold out but why not wake late on the Saturday, and join in on a truffle hunt, a master class, wonder around the busy, bustling farmers market or take part in one of the Farmers Kitchen experiences…… from learning about truffles and their origins to hearing from author/journo Louise Fitzroy with her from Paddock to Plate or just relaxing with a glass of wine in hand taking in the beautiful surrounds.
Speaking of wine… There’s going to be a fantastic master class on Saturday - The Plumm Wine Glass Experience with Matt Skinner. A bordeaux glass for this, a chardonnay glass for that… simple right? Well sort of. Matt will guide you through a wine tasting like no other, sharing his intricate knowledge and passion that has seen the likes of Jamie Oliver call Matt his wine expert.
With wine from the Southern Forests Region and exquisite glasses from Plumm, this is the master class for the wine enthusiast, wine lover, wine drinker and the wine swiller.
Matt will show you the ‘ins and outs’ of using specific wine glasses for every occasion and wine type. Oh and did I mention that participants will also take home 4 Plumm Vintage Crystal Wine Glasses?
Sunday will take you to another glorious day of truffle hunting, farmers markets, demonstrations and other fabulous foodie experiences.

The atmosphere is ripe with anticipation, the air is fresh and the food is divine. Come and celebrate the bounty of the Southern Forests Region with produce from local farms and producers. A three course sensation of flavors, from three top South West Chefs who know how to use the produce to take your breath away. You are more than welcome to include a matched glass of wine per course or simply sit back and enjoy the experience.
The Farmer’s Long Table Lunch
The Farmer’s Long Table is brought to you by Food Land Culture; a new initiative that seeks to reconnect farmers and consumers. Enjoy three mouth-watering courses celebrating local seasonal produce prepared by Sophie Budd, Joel Valvasori, and Kiren Mainwaring. Hear from those directly involved in bringing the produce to life on the plate. A long table lunch unlike any other. Enjoy the food, wine, and company, whilst learning something new about the Southern Forrest food region and its produce.
