WA Signature Dish Final – THIS WEEKEND!

Local produce is set to shine in WA’s Signature Dish Grand Finale at the Margaret River Gourmet Escape on Sunday 22nd November 2015.

The Grand Finale will see four finalists cook-off against each other at the Miele Theatre to decide which regional dish will win the annual title of WA’s Signature Dish.

Hosted by Rob Broadfield (Food Critic at The West Australian) and judged by Guillaume Brahimi (Bistro Guillaume), Matt Preston (Masterchef) and Shane Osborn (from Michelin starred St Betty’s restaurant and Arcane in Hong Kong), the Grand Finale will be one of the highlights of the Margaret River Gourmet Escape event.

WA’s Signature Dish is a State-wide cooking competition that promotes WA’s local produce and seeks to unearth our State on a Plate. The four finalists and their regional dishes include:

Kimberley

Cone Bay Barramundi with green mango and mizuna salad By Arylene Westlake-Jennings

Gascoyne

Swan Valley & Surrounds

Peel

Each regional finalist has worked with a regional Mentor Chef to prepare for the Grand Finale, including Chris Taylor (Fraser’s Restaurant) for the Kimberley, Peter Manifis (Incontro Restaurant) for the Gascoyne, Kiren Mainwaring (Co-op Dining) for Swan Valley & Surrounds and Jason Hutchen (Redmanna Waterfront Restaurant) for Peel.

Finalist for the Peel Region, Rachel Hartshorn and her mentor chef have made some slight refinements to her dish saying  “working with Jason has been fantastic. He is great person to work with and has an amazing outlook towards food, local produce and cooking.”

Adding, “I am looking forward to representing Peel and working with such delicious produce!”

The winner receives a two day mentorship with Guillaume Brahimi at Bistro Guillaume in Crown Perth and a trip for two to a luxurious remote Western Australian location for a wine and dine experience.

Gourmet Village attendees can sample the four finalist dishes at a Buy West Eat Best regional pop up restaurant by Pete Manifis. The ‘People’s Choice’ WA’s Signature Dish Trophy will be awarded to the most popular regional dish.
