Get Ya Fix

16 November, 2015
Get Ya Fix - Breakfast Perth

A bike shop selling coffee and jaffles? Say what?! Whilst their main business is selling some pretty cool cycling machines, Get Ya Fix is also sorting out your caffeine fix at their bike shop-come-cafe with some pretty darn good coffee and delicious foodie treats. With only a small lounge and couple of comfy chairs, there’s plenty of opportunity to browse the shop or even take away and set up camp in the near by Hyde Park. If you choose to take…

Mount Street Breakfast Bar

Mount Street Breakfast Bar

When someone with the surname “Hollywood” recommends a place to eat, I listen. He asked me if I wanted a “scoop” and told me about a place called  “Mount Street Breakfast Bar” that was under new management in the same spot that has really had nothing going for it since Bouchard closed it doors.  Hollywood had piqued my interest… of course I’d be keen to visit any place that has the word “breakfast” and “bar” in its name. Sitting on the…

Babooshka

Babooshka

Back when I was a regular to the Northbridge nightclub scene (it wasn’t THAT long ago.. really), there was only one reason you went down a dark alley… ok.. maybe two…but in recent years the dingy alleys of our city and Northbridge have become vibrant hang outs for those in the know. Trendy bars, boutique shops and small cafes now fill lanes decorated with street art. If you squint…could it be almost like Melbourne? Down an arcade, at the back…

Mooney’s Irish Sandwich Bar

8 November, 2013
Mooneys

Sandwich bar by name… sort of sandwich bar by nature…well during lunch hours it is anyway. For breakfast and dinner this place is serving up the best home cooked Irish fare this side of Donegal. I had never heard of Mooney’s until an Icelandic  (yep, I said Icelandic… not Irish) guy at my work told me about it. He told me that every week night Brian (if you go, you will meet him too and feel like an old friend…

Little Willys

So firstly… be careful when you say “I am going to review Little Willys for breakfast”. Secondly, I am not 100% sure if it is “Little Willys” or “Little Willy’s”… just one little apostrophe makes all the difference! I am going to go with “Little Willys”, which is how they refer to themselves on their Facebook page. Easily identifiable by its bright orange and blue beach umbrellas along William Street, Little Willys is a small nook in the wall with a couple of…

Toastface Grillah

So down this lane way off Barrack street (in between Top Hatters and Ali Baba’s hairdresser) amongst the graffiti murals is a place called  Toastface Grillah. I have walked past this lane 1000 times and never thought anything worthwhile could live down there but this clever little place is adding to the trendy lane way action Perth has been seeing of late. Toastface is tiny inside  with communal type seating outside. You find somewhere to park your bum and you…

Who remembers the old Fairlanes bowling alley in East Perth? You know.. that old tired part of the city? Well it has undergone a massive facelift and there are a few new places that have popped up including a fantastic little gem – Chefz Table. With a beautiful view over Langley Park to the river, this immaculately designed restaurant brings breakfast and fine dining together. Marie, Andy, Carly, Hannah and I found ourselves greeted by a staff member with infectious…

Gordon St Garage

Gordon St Garage

Gordon St Garage is the new cool kid on the block that has made a desolate part of West Perth now worth visiting. To be honest, I didn’t even know Gordon street existed until they opened and I had visioned that it was up in the west WEST perth end. The great part about the location is that it is in the quieter part of the city meaning street parking is a lot easier. The interior has a raw industrial…
