Layup

Layup Cafe - Breakfast Perth

One my favourite cafes, The Dizzy Witch, closed down last year. My friend Rachael also loved it there and we wondered what would replace it. Thankfully we have not been disappointed with new kid at the courts – Layup. The re-dec looks great… lots of natural light with wood vs black decor and furniture giving the perfect contrast. Coffee is by award winning Blacklist Coffee Roasters and as you can imagine, it makes a very decent cuppa. I really love…

Sayers Sister

Sayers Sister

I am probably the only food blogger in Perth to not have reviewed Sayers Sister. It’s not because I didn’t want to, it’s more because I hate lining up or waiting on the footpath for table… it doesn’t agree with my personality. BUT the fact that people are lining up and waiting for tables can only mean good things right? It was the first Friday of my maternity leave and my husband Andy and I were deciding where to go…

Babooshka

Babooshka

Back when I was a regular to the Northbridge nightclub scene (it wasn’t THAT long ago.. really), there was only one reason you went down a dark alley… ok.. maybe two…but in recent years the dingy alleys of our city and Northbridge have become vibrant hang outs for those in the know. Trendy bars, boutique shops and small cafes now fill lanes decorated with street art. If you squint…could it be almost like Melbourne? Down an arcade, at the back…

Nunam

Nunam

Northbridge restaurant, Nahm Thai has had a name change. Nunam has the same owners but now has a fresh start as a jack of all trades restaurant and café serving every meal of the day. It had always been a classy affair dining here, but now they have created a couple of rooms with more of a café feel as well as keeping a main dining room that lets you know you wont be ordering food off a menu with pictures and numbers. They…

Little Bird Cafe

Little Bird Cafe

The latest cafe whose food has been filling my Instagram feed is Little Bird Cafe. When you make your food look amazing – EVERYONE is going to share it on the social media trifecta (facey, insty and twitter). Breakfast isn’t just about slopping up some bacon and eggs on a plate anymore! Filled with modish recycled furniture, Little Bird is a deceivingly large space. There is bar seating outside as well as a huge sweeping space inside. There’s plenty of…

The Old Crow

The Old Crow

It’s 35 degrees at 8am, Australia are looking likely to win the Ashes and my English fiance wants to go out for breakfast to get me focussed on something else other than gloating. I check my “list of places to review” and we decide to head to Northbridge. We satisfyingly walk past the over crowded Tuck Shop cafe and straight into a place that was just opening it’s doors. Stepping into The Old Crow is how I imagine it to…

Little Willys

So firstly… be careful when you say “I am going to review Little Willys for breakfast”. Secondly, I am not 100% sure if it is “Little Willys” or “Little Willy’s”… just one little apostrophe makes all the difference! I am going to go with “Little Willys”, which is how they refer to themselves on their Facebook page. Easily identifiable by its bright orange and blue beach umbrellas along William Street, Little Willys is a small nook in the wall with a couple of…

Tuck Shop Cafe, Pie House & Delicatessen

Under the new(ish) apartment buildings on Newcastle street are shops that most people probably don’t notice but it’s hard to ignore one of them with its groups of people waiting outside. These people are of course waiting for a table inside the Tuck Shop Cafe, Pie House & Delicatessen. This place is so popular that people are willing to wait 45mins for a table – including Kirsty, Terri and myself! We arrived at 10.30am and put our names down on the…
